Every Friday night during the summer, residents of Asheville get together in a downtown park, jam on the drums, cowbells (“Gotta have more cow bell”) and dance. I haven’t seen a drum circle like this since my last Grateful Dead concert almost 15 years ago. Check out the video below:

I’ve always loved the drum circle. About 2 years ago there was a movement to end it from some of the condo owners nearby. We thwarted the effort by carrying on anyway - with a huge crowd of supporters and the news media standing by to cover the support. I’m really glad it is still going on today, it’s a huge part of downtown Asheville weekends. Great video!

Yeah it was very cool. We really enjoyed it and kind of wished it was going on again the following night after we ate dinner as well. Looking forward to going back.
